LET LIFE SURPRISE YOU : LAW CHAMBERS OF SAILAJA

I was born to beautiful parents as the daughter of a trishaw puller. Dad was a trishaw puller and Mom was housewife. Growing up with 5 siblings, our childhood was hard, but absolutely happy!

My parents could not afford to send me to any college. However, life is full of unexpected surprises and I was fortunate to be offered to one of the best government law schools in Malaysia in 2007 due to my excellent results and achievements during my high school. Keeping in mind the situation of my family and the opportunity in hand, I sacrificed my enjoyment during law school just to focus and pursue it.

In 2011, I graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor in Malaysia in 2012. I pursued my career in a law firm in my hometown as a Civil & Criminal Litigation Practitioner. After years of service, my firm recognized my experience and my talent and made me a profit sharing partner of the firm. I have also successfully completed my Masters in Business Law in 2017.

The date 12th July, 2021 is not only my birthday, but also the birth of my very own legal firm ~ Law Chambers of Sailaja. After 9 years being a Lawyer, last year I started planning on getting my own office. I kept this plan as a secret because I wanted to surprise my parents. With God’s grace & my own hard work, I managed to open my own legal firm on 12th July 2021. Once the board was up, I brought parents to my office and surprised them. The tears on their eyes and smile & happiness on their faces were priceless! I cannot believe I’m finally flying solo after 9 years of hard work as a Criminal & Civil Practitioner.

When I decided to start my own legal firm in 2021, the norm was to go work for an established firm as opposed to starting one from the ground up. The profession I'm in has led me a lot of times to overcome my limits, it has taught me to compare myself with others, it has allowed me to immerse myself in their stories, being able to help my clients fighting for justice.

Was it daunting? Definitely! Nothing is easy in the beginning, there were a lot of uncertainties and competitions. But, I knew this was the right path for me, and it ended up being one of the best decisions I've made in my life! Why? Because among the many benefits of running my own practice, I get to set the standards of how I want to practice law and who I want to represent.

I am also a speaker and I do give talks in Universities. I always believe that success doesn't happen by chance. It's a result of hard work, perseverance, dedication, sacrifice, learning, studying and above all, love for what you do.
